Deflected double weave

A post-parcel was lying outside the studio gate… we don’t know for how long as we were closed for many weeks. After dusting and removing the envelope, we discovered it was Marian Stubenitsky’s book ‘Double with a twist’, which we had ordered just before the lock-down!

It is a nice book dealing with deflected double weave. Inspired and spoilt for choice, we took a 8 shaft pattern from the book using one layer of thin yarns & one layer of thick yarns.

Then, we setup the AVL Workshop computerized dobby handloom to weave the pattern using mercerised cotton 20/2 & mercerised cotton 10/2. Good to see how it is coming out! On the loom, it looks like nice little blocks, but we guess the fun will be after taking off the loom to see how it collapses and drapes! Fingers crossed!
Shuttles & Needles carries a wide range of weaving looms, spinning wheels, felting tools, yarns & fibres for textile designers. Pl click here to explore.
