What gives us happiness when we weave? How do we attain emotional well being by continuing to practice weaving? How can weaving help people with dementia or other age related troubles?
These were answered by Dr. DC Mathangi, Professor & Head of Mind Body Medicine & Lifestyle Sciences at Sri Ramachandra Institute of higher education & Research.
Dr. Mathangi and her students spent a good two hours at the studio trying weaving on different looms hands-on. Then the students came out with their observations about how the colours, textures and the rhythmic movement of weaving helps in increasing focus, cutting off from the external world and gives a sense of accomplishment, which are all essential for our emotional well being.
