Neon Sign weaving on SAORI

Neon Sign weaving on SAORI

Bright and striking colors, a dark black warp and the endless possibilities with SAORI weaving gave rise to “Neon Signs”. The concept takes inspiration from the bright and bold street-signs that compete with each other to create an optical patchwork while embellishing the night sky. The cityscape that we are so familiar with, which slowly took over our urban landscape, creates an even more vibrant source of color through the night and it was with the concept that the story begins.

At the Shuttles & Needles studio, there is a wide array of fiber arts, paired together with Saori Weaving, offering limitless opportunities for creativity, experimentation, and self-expression.

As Misao Jo mentions in her tenets of SAORI “Look through the eyes that shine”, this was truly the backbone for all the yardages woven and the garments and accessories that followed.

Minimal cuts and simple stitches were taken forward for the garments that were created and each yardage was converted to form unique garments and pillowcases that is easy to weave and stitch.
